Today has not been my luckiest day. So far my phone is acting up, I've lost my unlimited metrocard, and iTunes has charged me so many times for one $9.99 purchase that my checking account's balance is now at $0.35. (Any time you want to refund me, iTunes, that'd be a big help.) On top of those fun developments, a bureaucratic mixup is preventing me from doing my job properly and I just received an email which has the potential to develop into a massive bummer by ending one of my favourite new traditions.
In short, it's been a trying day. So when my search for a little renewed chutzpah on the fabulous
Jess Lively's site brought me to this video, it was just the kind of thing I needed to hear.
The narrative is an excerpt from a graduation speech given by David Foster Wallace at Kenyon College in 2005 and the movie was made by The Glossary in May of this year.
So while I'm dealing with Apple, my bank, and the bottomless bureaucracy of my university, it really isn't upsetting me too much. This is just water, and in the grand scheme of things I've actually got it pretty freaking easy.
